The Winter Falls
Mid-February Visit
Taking advantage of the clear skies that appeared in mid-February (before the snowstorm), I went up to Dave's Falls Marinette County Park in northern Wisconsin.
I was fortunate, I had the entire park to myself!
It was a rare, warm, sunny day in the Northwoods!
Dave’s Falls
There are two waterfalls in this park, the upper and lower.
The lower is like a narrow slide that funnels the Pike River quickly between granite boulders.
The upper has a drop of a few feet, with the river flowing casually over the boulders.
Ice-capped River
To my surprise, the Pike River, with exception, retained a frozen ice cap over much of the river, opening periodically as it swiftly flowed through the park.
And although the air temperature was around 30 degrees and sunshine, as I stood on the bank of the river, the cold from the ice and river water could be felt.
This is looking upriver at the upper falls (far right corner of the image).

Just a nice February scene in the Wisconsin Northwoods!
