Google Analytics Information
Like many other web sites, the Powder Hill Photography LLC website uses Google Analytics to help assess and analyze website usage. This is a tracking code, on my site, that identifies which pages (and photos) viewers are reading and viewing.
The anonymous information generated by Google Analytics about your use of this website is transmitted to Google Analytics, and is not stored on my computers. This information is processed to compile statistical reports on website activity.
I never know who the visitor is. Google Analytics data that is provided via reports includes, as an example, numbers of visitors over a predetermined time-frame, page views, time on site, content viewed, general geographic area. This information is used by me to provide content that makes Powder Hill Photography pages more engaging for visitors.
The information provided by Google Analytics within this report is never nor shared or sold to anyone or any entity. It is never downloaded. Google deletes this information after a period of time. If interested, Google Analytics has its own privacy page.
Squarespace also accesses this data from Google Analytics, and provides it to me in a useful reporting format. In addition to the information provided by Google Analytics, (which includes traffic, general geography, etc.) Squarespace also provides activity reports for use on my web site. This information (I never know who), is useful in determining which content is most relevant to visitors to this site.
You will notice that Powder Hill Photography web site is “ad free”. Visitor information is not provided to any advertiser or vendor.
On the Newsletter sign-up, entering your email address allows you to receive the newsletter.
Your email address will only be used for the purpose of providing you with my newsletter, emailed every two months.
The newsletter is sent through Squarespace. Your email address is entered into Squarespace mailing list data base, retained on the Squarespace servers. I do not keep your email in any other list. (Exception, if you purchased a print or licensed an image, your email address is retained in the financial records. See below).
You may unsubscribe from my newsletter at anytime via the “Unsubscribe” line at the bottom of each newsletter. Doing so deletes your email address from the Squarespace email data base, and will automatically stop all future newsletter mailings.
On-Line Orders - PayPal Financial Information
When checking out, your actual financial transaction takes place on PayPal. I never see your transaction, only the amount paid, item purchased, date, method of payment, and shipping address.
Your financial information is kept strictly with PayPal. Please see PayPal for their privacy statement.
On-Line Orders - Data Collected
When you purchase a print on this Powder Hill Photography website, limited personal information is collected from you to fulfill the order. This can include:
Billing and shipping address
Details relating to your print purchase (ex. print file #, size, etc.)
We share this information with Squarespace, our online store hosting provider, so that they can provide website services to us. Your information is actually first inputed on a Squarespace form, then forwarded to me. I retain this information (see below) for order processing and fulfillment.
Abandoned Cart - Emails
You’ll receive an automated email within 24 hours after you abandon your shopping cart, if all of the following occured:
You entered your email address at checkout.
You added a product which is in stock to your shopping cart.
You closed your browser or left this website without completing your purchase.
The email will link back to this website, where you can pick up where you left off and complete your purchase.
You can unsubscribe from these messages at the bottom of the email.
After placing your order, you will receive email messages about its status. For example, we may email you to tell you that:
You’ve made a purchase
Your order has shipped
It’s not possible to unsubscribe from these messages.
We share your contact information with Squarespace, our website hosting provider, so they can send these emails to you on our behalf.
Art Fairs - Newsletter Sign-up
At art fairs, visitors can sign up for my newsletter through an app on my iPad. Just as with my web site, the only information requested is the email address.
Following the show, this information is transmitted to the Squarespace email data base and is immediately and automatically deleted from my iPad.
As noted above, your name and email address are only used for the newsletter mailing via Squarespace. You may opt out any time, and doing so removes your email address.
Art Fairs - Financial Information
At art fairs, I use the Square card reader for processing credit card purchases. Square handles all financial information. Using the chip reader, I only know the item purchased, date, amount, and method of payment. I do not know your credit card information.
I also have the chip reader for PayPal, though have switched to using Square (not related to Squarespace), for shows. If I do use PayPal, like Square, all financial data is handled through them.
If you contact me using the contact form, your note is retained only as long as necessary. Until deletion, it is held in my Outlook folder.
Customer testimonials comments tend not to be deleted.
Newsletter sign-up email addresses are retained as long as the newsletter continues to be sent, or until the recipient ops-out. At that time, all contact information is removed from the newsletter email Squarespace database.
All print and licensing purchase information is retained for the life of Powder Hill Photography LLC. This information is retained in QuickBooks (on my computer). Print purchases made at art fairs where no contact information was provided are listed as only sales at the fairs.
For image financial tracking (to determine how any one image is selling), I track the person’s name (if provided at time of purchase), the print size, the art fair, and the image number, all in the software program fotoBiz X, self-contained on my computer. For those who left no contact info, the same information is retained for each image, minus the purchaser’s name. This information is retained for the life of Powder Hill Photography LLC.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have signed up for the newsletter (and still receiving the newsletter), purchased a print, or licensed an image, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
If you no longer receive the newsletter, your data has long been removed.
You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. Data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes is not included.
I hope I’ve covered it all for you. Should you have any questions, please contact me.
