Wisconsin and Beyond

Wisconsin?

When people enter my booth at art fairs, after viewing the Dura Plaq displayed prints on the walls, I’ll often receive this question:

Is most of your photography from Wisconsin?

Yes, And No

I’ll respond by pointing out the particular prints on the wall from Rocky Mountain National Park, followed with those from Wisconsin. The print bins, in addition to Wisconsin and Colorado, will contain prints from Utah, Alabama, Florida, South Dakota, and other locations.

The majority of what I display at art fairs is my Wisconsin landscape photography, though, as noted, photography from my travels is heavily peppered within the display.

Where Do You Travel?

As a dedicated landscape photographer, I am captivated by the land and what it offers.

With a somewhat limited travel budget, my travels are often to locations easily reached in a day.

I can easily travel to the Lake Michigan area. Both Harrington Beach (40 miles away) and Kohler-Andrae State Parks (65 miles away) are an easy drive.

Pike Lake Unit, Kettle Moraine State Forest (formerly Pike Lake State Park), is literally my backyard. This area offers the lake, streams, fields, wildflowers, and hardwood forests.

Northern Wisconsin trips, which include Vilas and Oneida counties, become full day events. It is approximately 4 hours to drive to downtown Minocqua. The photography starts just north of there. It is not uncommon to leave the northwoods late in the afternoon, getting back after the sun has disappeared for the day.

Ancillary day trips of Wisconsin include Hartman Creek State Park (Waupaca), Dave’s Falls County Park (Amberg), Point Beach State Park (Two Rivers), and Peninsula State Park (Fish Creek, Door County).

Beyond The Day Trips?

Beyond day trips, the travel time becomes longer.

I’ve taken short trips to the Badlands National Park and the Black Hills (South Dakota).

Annually in summer, you will find me in Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado). In spring, the gulf coast area of either Florida or Alabama will be my photographic destination.

Although I’ve driven the Alaska Highway (ALCAN) a number of years ago, I did not, at that time, have my current photography equipment. The images from that trip are reminders of what awaits should I drive the ALCAN again.

Fine Art Landscape Photography

Whether taking images locally at Pike Lake, or distant trips such as Colorado, the goal with all of my photography remains the same. Provide a fine art landscape print that you will enjoy owning, displaying, and sharing with your family and friends.
