Two influencers of my landscape nature photography are John Denver and  John Muir .

Perhaps that may be why, when looking through the viewfinder, I  hear the music  and listen to the performance nature offers.

Each aspect of the scene becomes one instrument playing its part in the total composition.

Rather than simply documenting what lies before me, I create art that allows you, the viewer, to emotionally enter the scene.

You then experience the nuances of the image, appreciate its “musical composition” and benefit from its inspiration.

There is one key element that must occur for me to successfully create the image I envision, and the resulting image that will resonate with the viewer.

Though I never have music playing when I’m on my photographic expeditions, I’ve found – and this might sound strange — my truly successful images are created when I hear the music. This doesn’t have to be any particular song, though often a John Denver tune will come through.

As the song silently floats around in my head, I become one with the scene.

This silent tune will come to me as I’m hiking the area or as I visualize the image.

It is through this music that the composition of the scene starts to explode before my eyes. Looking through the viewfinder, I become one with the image I’m creating.

Images with singular elements become the solo guitar player, skillfully finger picking the notes and chords supporting the lyrics of the song.

More complex scenes open the doors of the orchestra, with the numerous instruments playing their separate parts merging in one complex, yet remarkable rendition.

It doesn’t matter where I am.

Without the music floating in my mind, I’m just not quite in tune with the environment around me.

My senses are not open to the possibilities that exist. There is dissonance, and my photography shows it.

However, when I do hear music, I’m very much in tune with my surroundings.

My mind and senses are totally consumed by the creation of the image.

The result – the photographic composition in the final print offers the viewer an emotionally attachment at some level, feeling that same energy that I felt the day I created the image.

It all comes together when I listen to the music that nature offers.

I only offer Open Editions, meaning my prints are available to any number of art lovers for as long as the print is available on this website.

Why not offer Limited Editions?

When a musician releases their music, its enjoyment is not limited to a few individuals, (ex. the first 25 or 100). Rather, it is released for the enjoyment of all.

I've been told my images make people happy, feel good, inspire them.

WHAT IS DURA PLAQ MOUNTING?

Dura Plaq is a proprietary mounting process premium display solution that elevates your artwork while protecting it for decades.

Your fine art print bonded to a rigid substrate— 3/8” eco-friendly board —and sealed with a protective, acid-free, UV-resistant laminate. The result is a sleek, frameless presentation with a matte, non-glare finish that resists glare, fingerprints, and fading.

The back and sides are sealed and protected with visually attractive black paint.

Note - Images within the galleries have a small black border, simulating the final Dura Plaq-mounted print look.

PERSONALLY PRINTED, HAND SIGNED

Each print is personally and professionally printed by Drake Fleege, the artist and photographer, using 100% cotton rag paper on his large format Epson 7950 professional printer.

One exception - My printer only prints 24" wide maximum (ex. 24x36, 24x40, but not 30x40). Anything wider than 24" wide is sent to another printer.

Every print is individually hand-signed in the lower right corner.

GLARE-FREE, SHIPS FREE (lower 48)

Once printed and signed, your print is sent to Colorado to be mounted to a 3/8" eco-friendly board, treated with acid-free glare-free matte finish with UV protective coating.

The back and sides are painted smooth black.

Your completed Dura Plaq-mounted print ships free (lower 48) direct to you via FedX or UPS.

EASY & CONVENIENT KEYHOLD MOUNTING

Included with your Dura Plaq print are two small silver keyhole locators.

Simply slide each one into the middle of each keyhole slot at the top back of the print. Secure in place with tape.

Place the Dura Plaq print in your desired wall location. (It helps to have a level for this part).

Push against print at the top. As you do this, the silver points will make small dimple indentations in the wall where the screws will be located.

Screw the double-headed screws, using the provided anchors if needed, into the wall to the first collar - the section between the two collars will exposed.

Remove the silver keyhole locators and carefully slide the print with the keyholes over the screw heads. Once both screws are “captured”, slide the print over slightly to move the screws approximately in the middle or so of the keyhole
