Wild geranium along the trail, that is very shaded in summer.

Sharing Wisdom

Along the Trail

While hiking in the local state park one morning in early June, I was stopped by this Wild Geranium growing along the trail.

Due to the heavy maple canopy overhead, there were few wild flowers along this section. Other areas of the park, being more open, were well populated with the flowers.

Caught my Attention

Unlike the others, this one caught my attention. The filtered sunlight accented its color in an otherwise darkened environment.

Studying this colorful flower against the backdrop of green plants, my mind started asking philosophical questions.

Philosophical Questions

We see things all day, but remember very little.

We hear words, though recall but a few.

One Flower - Makes a Difference

This individual flower reminded me of how one kind word, a singular act of kindness, or perhaps one song that touches us for whatever reason, can brighten the trail we walk each day. Yes, I need the periodic reminder!

In the field with many other Wild Geraniums, I would have missed the meaning of this flower.

Alone, along the trail, this Wild Geranium shared its wisdom.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

"If you do what you can do,

and I do what I can do,

together, we can make a difference.”
