Will Our Flags Fly Half Staff Year Round?

And Yet - Another

Yesterday, May 24, 2022, we all read about yet another mass school shooting - this time in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Occurring in one classroom, 19 children and 2 teachers - shot dead - because they went to school that day to learn and to teach, and to make the world a better place.

Expand our Thinking

As I was on my hike this morning, listening to the whispers of the wind and songs of the birds, I decided that today I would post not a pretty image. Rather this saying from Albert Einstein came to mind.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking we used when we created them.”

Different Ideas, One Common Goal = Resolution

Gene Kranz proved that if you put the right people in a room - even with differing opinions - and one common goal - a joint solution can be found. (Apollo 13, “Failure is not an Option”).

Room of No Solutions

This is election year.

It is clear the agenda of many politicians is to restrict what is taught in school, restrict books in libraries, and yet they fail to act on even a meaningful discussion to work on this issue of mass shootings.

Change the People in the Room - VOTE

This election year - let's change the people in the room.

Let's vote out those who refuse to even hold meaningful discussions on the topic, who refuse to even take a step to acknowledge the situation and develop solutions.

Or Will we Accept the Flag at Half Staff Year Round

Without change in the people who can make change, is it possible our flags will fly at half staff year round for mass shootings?
