Remembering Pearl Harbor

Front porch of the Yankee House at Old World Wisconsin, near Eagle, Wisconsin decorated for Christmas

December Porch Thoughts

This porch at Old World Wisconsin is all decorated for the season, representing a period of time well before 1941.

Under the afternoon December sunshine, it provided a wonderful spot just to sit and think about all that so many people before me (pioneers, settlers, the immigrants) of years ago. All of those who helped form this country.

Thoughts turned to Pearl Harbor

And then the thoughts turned to service members and their families of Pearl Harbor,.

And before that, WWI, followed by WWII after December 7th. The Korean Conflict shortly thereafter- and sadly the list goes on.

All who have fought and given so much more for this great country., and the freedom for all, not just a select few.

They gave me this Opportunity

The opportunity for me to sit on this porch comfortably in the sunshine came with a cost which I can never repay.

Those in the past thought of the future, which I am just one of the many beneficiaries.

I hope we all never forget.
