Powder Hill Photography Website Configuration
The text (pages and blog) portion of the Powder Hill Photography LLC website (https://powderhillphotography.com) is Word Press theme (Imagely Ansel theme).
WP Engine is the hosting service (which provides servers, routers, etc.), and uses CDN technology on Google servers. CDN technology delivers the web site content faster to the user.
The Word Press portion of the web site uses feature images across the top of each page, just below the menu. This includes all blog articles, and all pages, including the portfolio and art fair prints.
The image archive (https://powderhillphotograph.photoshelter.com/archive) portion of my web site (all galleries, images returned in the search, etc., but not the individual images on the blog articles, portfolio or art fair prints) is hosted on PhotoShelter. These pages are easily identified by the grey background on over the majority of the page, providing a backdrop for each image.
PhotoShelter also uses multiple servers to provide the user fast delivery of the content. In both WP Engine and PhotoShelter, I do not know the specifics of their systems.
Google Analytics Information
Like many other web sites, the Powder Hill Photography LLC website uses Google Analytics to help assess and analyze website usage. This is a tracking code, on my site, that identifies which pages (and photos) viewers are reading. Both the Word Press text pages and PhotoShelter image archive pages employ the Google Analytics code.
Other than the anonymous information gathered by Google Analytics, no personal information is collected when you visit this website, browse the articles, and view the images.
The anonymous information generated by Google Analytics about your use of this website is transmitted to Google Analytics, and is not stored on my computers. This information is processed to compile statistical reports on website activity for this site only.
I never know who the visitor is. Google Analytics includes number of visitors over a predetermined time-frame, page views, time on site, content viewed, general geographic area. This information is used by me to provide content that makes the Powder Hill Photography page more engaging for visitors).
Google collects this information and provides the reports. I simply read the reports, which as mentioned, helps me evaluate the effectiveness of the pages, posts and images on my web site. This information is never used for marketing, nor shared or sold to anyone or any entity. It is never downloaded. Google deletes this information after a period of time. Google Analytics has its own privacy page.
Image Library – Image Count
Each image in my image archive (on the PhotoShelter side of my site) is tabulated. I can view (from PhotoShelter) a listing of the top 100 viewed images. No additional information is provided.
Unlike Google Analytics, I can not determine a date or date range on any image(s), nor a geographic area of interest. PhotoShelter provides only the image list.
I do not use any advertising on Powder Hill Photography web site. Consequently, there is no “ad targeting” nor “target marketing” information collected.
Newsletter (sent every two months)
You are asked for your first name (never last name) and email address on the Newsletter page. The first name is requested to personalize your newsletter. Entering your email address allows you to receive the newsletter.
Your email address will only be used for the purpose of providing you with my newsletter, that is sent out every two months.
All newsletters are sent through Constant Contact. Your name and email address are entered into Constant Contact mailing list data base, retained on the Constant Contact servers. I do not keep your email in any other list. (Exception, if you purchased a print or licensed an image, your email address is retained in the financial records. See below).
You may unsubscribe from my newsletter at anytime via the “Safe Unsubscribe” line at the bottom of each newsletter. Doing so deletes your email address from the Constant Contact email data base, and will automatically stop all future newsletter mailings.
On-line Orders – Check out as a Guest
You will notice that the portfolios, blog images and art fair prints images, once clicked on, provide only a larger preview. (These images are on the Word Press pages of my website).
To purchase these prints, you’ll search the image archive, or view the gallery images for your selection (on the PhotoShelter portion of my site) then click “Add to Cart” and follow the on-line ordering process.
When ordering, you have an opportunity to optionally create your own account (with PhotoShelter), or check out as a guest (no account needed). I recommend you check out as a guest – much easier.
Checking out as a guest, you will be asked for personal data (shipping address, etc.) I do not know how long PhotoShelter retains this information, though it is my understanding the information is only retained for each order. (See below for the financial transaction).
Following shipment, your name, email address, print purchased, shipping address, method of payment is retained in my QuickBooks financial files on my computer. It is not available to outside sources, and may only be viewed in relation to preparation of taxes by my tax accountant.
On-line Orders – Financial Information
When checking out, the actual financial transaction takes place on PayPal. I never see your transaction, only the amount of you paid, item purchased, date, method of payment, address.
Your financial information is kept strictly with PayPal. Please see PayPal for their privacy statement.
Art Fairs – Newsletter Sign-up
At art fairs, visitors can sign up for my newsletter through an app on my iPad. Just as with my web site, the only information requested is the first name and email address.
Following the show, this information is transmitted to the Constant Contact email data base and is immediately and automatically deleted from my iPad.
As noted above, your name and email address are only used for the newsletter mailing via Constant Contact. You may opt out any time.
Art Fairs – Financial Information
At art fairs, I use a PayPal card reader for processing credit card purchases.
PayPal handles all financial information. I only know the item purchased, date, amount, and method of payment.
If you contact me using the Contact form, your note is retained only as long as necessary then it is deleted. Until deletion, it is held in my Outlook folder for the specific year.
Customer testimonials comments tend not to be deleted.
Newsletter sign-up emails are retained as long as the newsletter continues to be sent, or until the recipient ops-out. At that time, all contact information is removed from Newsletter email Constant Contact database.
All print and licensing purchase information is retained for the life of Powder Hill Photography LLC. This information is retained in QuickBooks (on my computer). Print purchases made at art fairs where no contact information was provided are listed as only sales at the fairs.
For image financial tracking (to determine how any one image is selling), I track the person’s name (if provided at time of purchase), the print size, the art fair, and the image number, all in the software program fotoBiz X, self-contained on my computer. For those who left no contact info, the same information is retained for each image, minus the purchaser’s name. This information is retrained for the life of Powder Hill Photography LLC.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have signed up for the Newsletter (and still receiving the newsletter), purchased a print, or licensed an image, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
If you no longer receive the newsletter, your data has long been removed.
You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. Data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes is not included.
I hope I’ve covered it all for you. Should you have any questions, please contact me.
