Two websites – Now one
If you have visited my site in the past, (prior to December 2017), you may not have realized I was utlizing two sites. The primary site, which included all text pages and blog, was a Word Press platform. All images, including the thousands of images in the searchable library archive, were hosted on PhotoShelter. I tried to make both look as one, so the user didn’t notice this difference.
Since I was really striving to have an all-inclusive web site (meaning all text pages, blog and images on one site), this arrangement wasn’t quite right.
No More Searches
Targeting to make the change in winter, I tracked the number of searches for images throughout the 2017 summer. Very few people actually searched for any additional images beyond what was available in the different galleries (and those images in the art fair prints).
Starting in November (2017) through December, I removed all images from PhotoShelter, and terminated both my account and the searchable image archive. Now everything – all text pages, my blog, all images – are on my Word Press site, under my single domain. For you, the viewer, you’ll enjoy continuity throughout this site, with everything working as one.
Ten Primary Galleries Remain
The ten primary galleries that form the nucleus of this site remain, and are front and center under the “Photography” tab. This section will always show – what I believe to be – my best (and in most cases, most recent) – photography.
The galleries are set up with no more than 20 images each, making review easy and efficient. Larger images and the ability to purchase on-line are also available for each image within the galleries.
Added “Library of Images”
For those who may wish to see additional images beyond what is available in the primary galleries, you’ll enjoy the “Library of Images” section under the “Photography” tab.
Long gone are the thousands of images that were returned on any search. In its place, you’ll find numerous category and location galleries, offering additional images beyond what is available in the primary galleries.
Just as with the primary galleries, each of the library of image galleries will have no more than 24 easily viewed images (often less).
Clicking on the image opens larger previews and the opportunity to purchase the print for easy on-line ordering. (This format is followed with all galleries now on this website).
- Overlay the mouse for title and caption information.
- Click on the thumbnail image to open the larger preview and gallery screening.
- The yellow/green “cart” (lower left corner, next screen) provides pricing and check-out.
- Click the green “x” in the upper right to close that window and return to this screen.
And where are all the others?
I’ve moved all the rest of the thousands of images, and placed many in stock photography, available for licensing through Alamy. Only images that I feel would make great fine art prints now remain on this site.
Check it out
Feel free to always check out the galleries and library of images section for the print that you’d enjoy for your home or office.
