Hartman Creek State Park is located just outside of Waupaca, in south-central Wisconsin. It’s a large park with a couple of small recreational lakes.
There is a segment of the park, mostly in the campground and near the lakes, that appears to have been a pine plantation many years ago. At the very least, someone decided to plant a number of pines which are now maturing. There is another section of the park that is more open, with a few oaks on sandy soils.
I usually go to Hartman Creek at least once per year, particularly in the fall. Among the pines are oaks and maples, that at the right time, really provide wonderful color.
