Congratulations. Your new Dura Plaq print will capture the attention of your house guests and visitors, providing years of viewing pleasure.
The First Step - Collecting The Tools
You'll need just a couple of tools.
Scissors (rather than a box cutter)
Drill bit for the wall anchors
Phillips screw driver
Good level (ideally 4 foot level for 36" wide print, and triptychs), or electronic leveling device
A second person (very important!)
Now The Fun Begins
Your Dura Plaq print ships securely in a cardboard box, wrapped well with the cushioned foam packaging, secured with shrink-wrap.
Open the cardboard box carefully. (Cut the tape very shallow).
Remove the print from the box, place face down on flat surface.
If the print is secured to cardboard, with a scissors, (please don't use box cutter), cut very shallow the shrink wrap and remove from the cardboard.
After removing the cardboard support, place the print (still wrapped) face down on a flat surface
Carefully, with a scissors, cut the shrink-wrap from the back side of the print.
For easier and safer cutting, slide your hand under the shrink-wrap to elevate it off the print.
Remove the shrink-wrap from the print..
Within the shrink-wrap, you will find a small clear plastic container.
This plastic container holds the double-headed mounting screws, the double-headed silver tacks and the white wall anchors.
Smaller Dura Plaq prints will have one screw and tack, and no wall anchors
Save this package. You’ll need these parts to mount your Dura Plaq on your wall.
Open ths foam wrap. You will be looking at the back of the print. Turn it over and you'll be viewing your new print!
Once the general location is determined, insert the double-headed silver tack, one each in the approximate center of each keyhole on the back.
The tack portion faces out from the back of the print.
Marking The Location
While holding the print, carefully place the print at its desired location.
Gently hold the print, at its base, against the wall, but don’t press down yet.
The second person measures and re-measures, confirming location.
After level the print (using the 4 foot level). the second person presses the print in the upper right and left corners over the tack locations.
This step pushes the tacks into the wall, creating a slight indentation, which is where the anchors will go.
Remove the print away from the wall.
Placing The Anchors
Using a drill and bit, drill a hole at one, or both (depending upon your preference) tack indentations. (Smaller plaqs don't use the white anchors).
Install one wall anchor and one gold double-headed screw.
If you drilled both holes, and are confident of its location, repeat the above step.
An alternative is to install one anchor, mount the print, re-level, and mark the second tack location, drill, install anchor and screw
Carefully holding the print toward you, align the double-headed screws to the keyholes, and slide into place.
Once each is slid into its opening, slide the print over an inch or so (away from the keyhole opening) to set it into position.
Congratulations – You’re all set to fully enjoy your new Dura Plaq print from Powder Hill Photography.
